Here are a few helpful quick tips to a great small biz marketing plan:
1. Set Goals:
You must first establish your marketing goals. As you set goals, make sure you also set a time table for the goals as well.
What are you gonna focus on?
- How to get the customer
- Keeping the customer
- Are you looking to grow your business and grow your customer base
- Are you trying to retain customers and develop loyalty
- Are you looking for referrals from those customers that are very happy & engaged with your business that are willing to tell their friends?
2. Define your ideal customer:
You should have a great idea of your ideal customer…the people that keep actually buying from you.
The characteristics of your target market are things such demographic information such as: gender, type of work they do, income bracket, age, , location, education, specific interests…
Identify the people that are most likely to buy your product/service. Just understanding your target customer and some of what drives them will be very beneficial when developing your marketing plan.
Stop trying to be everything to everyone–you must know this to properly target your messaging to your audience, and have a winning marketing campaign.
**Let me give you a quick example…if you sell toys, every person who has a kid is NOT your customer…some people have older kids that no longer play with toys for instance**
3. Choose advertising method:
Now it’s a game of hide and go find…You gotta find your ideal customer and get your message and solution in front of them. You need to decide where to put your marketing dollars.
My expertise is online marketing methods so that’s what we will chat about:).

4. Choose your message:
So what do ya say to your potential customers so they do business with you on a regular basis?
The number one tip I can give you is to sell the benefits of your products/services.
Sell the solutions NOT features of the products. What problem do you solve for your target market?
5. Measure it:
How do you measure your marketing campaign?….How do you know if it’s working?…
Is the marketing project successful and should I do it again?
These are all great questions and it would take me another 1500 word post to talk about it specifically…
But remember, your measurements will be based on the goal of your campaign.
For instance if your general goal was to have a profitable campaign you could use this formula:
Total revenue (-) Expenses (/: divided by) Expenses (X) 100
If you can measure it then you can manage it!

Best Seo For Small Companies
Marketing plans should not be rushed, they take time, and focus to make the right plan to suit your business.
There is no vanilla one size fits all solution for every business.
Your marketing plan should be an extension of your main company goals and objectives.
Marketing is about increasing profitability not just increasing sales…
Although a marketing plan does not guarantee sales, the likely hood of sales following an awesome marketing plan, is like the likelihood of Michael Jordan making a basket when he broke free from the person guarding him….
Time + Resources+ Research+ Action = Marketing Success
